Antech Pinot Noir: The Versatility of the Burgundy Grape in Limoux
The Antech Family Pinot Noir is a fascinating example of how this classic red grape, famous in Burgundy and Champagne, expresses itself in the terroir of Limoux, offering a sparkling wine of great character.
Although the base of Limoux effervescents is traditionally Mauzac and Chardonnay, Antech uses Pinot Noir, grown on select plots at higher altitudes, to create this distinctive cuvée.
This wine is made using the Traditional Method. Pinot Noir is used to give the blend greater structure, body, and complexity, as well as contributing the distinctive red fruit notes. Depending on the final blend, it can be a Blanc de Noirs (a white wine made from red grapes without skin contact) or, more commonly, a portion is vinified as a rosé to add body to an Assemblage (blend).
It is characterized by its elegance and freshness, with aromas of cherries, raspberries, and sometimes a subtle touch of spice or earth. Its aging on lees gives it a delicate effervescence and remarkable complexity. It is a very gastronomic, sparkling wine, versatile enough to accompany both appetizers and light meals.
